I love, love #6. I love how I just don't know what it is. It looks like crystals and then it looks like a cocktail and then it looks like candy. I have no idea! I also like the contrast between the color of the cup and whatever is in the cup!
I actually like your first self portrait the best. It's very mysterious, and the use of color in all pastels like that make it feel light an airy-even though still holding mystery. Very pretty. The balance in all your photos seems spot on, and help contribute to the feeling of passion comjng across from you.
Hi Caitlin, I like how all your subjects in your pictures are very close, I notice that is a pattern in your photos. The subject is very clear in all your pictures because of that aspect. I also noticed that in most of your pictures one part of the picture is in focus and the rest is out of focus, which makes the picture interesting to look at. My favorite picture is #6 out of all your pictures because although the entire picture is not bursting with color, the little balls of green pop and it makes the picture unique and I enjoy looking at it!
You captured a dynamic range of subjects, which I think helped make a pretty solid body of work. My biggest issue, though, is the fact everything is so big- these photos are gigantic! I know Berk wanted people to originally post stuff at the Original size, but I feel like if your pictures are that big you may want to go with X-Large. I had the exact same problem at first, but thankfully I noticed before it got too late in the game.
I really enjoy photos 4 through 7, with 7 probably being my favorite. You got a really nice angle in 4, one that makes me feel a bit of serene peace and a tiny bit of adventure. I love 7 so much because you got nice and close in there, and captured a good amount of details. It also has real good use of shallow focus. Whatever it is looks delicious, too.
One tip I'd give is that I feel like your last photo could be really successful, but it's kind of blurry, and not in a way that makes me feel like it was intentional. Judging from other photos, I would probably guess that your phone camera doesn't do super well with low light level photos, and it probably has an annoying time focusing for them too! I've had phones like this in the past, and I would illuminate the subject with some other light source (say, a flashlight) and focus to that, remove that light source, and then take the image. So long as the phone/the subject doesn't move too much or the phone doesn't try and refocus, you'll most likely get a crisper shot. Of course, it could also try and overcompensate with raising its ISO, but I'm not sure how much you can do about that without using outside photo apps.
I think the photos are way too big. Id like to see them one by one in a screen instead of scrolling through the same image to see it. That being said these are interesting subjects. I can't convey the color though because I cant see the entire photo on my screen at one time.

ReplyDeleteMy favorite is #5. The focus, color and texture make for a great photo. I can almost feel the chill of the ice.

ReplyDeleteI ilke your photo #9 because of it's abstract concept. I can't really tell how coins ended up in the book but it created mystery.

Good job!
