  1. Hi Garrett, for the construction of your work, all the pictures have the subject in the center and all are organized and for the most of them flow together. As for the communication, most of the pictures speak the outdoors to me and dead leaves. Although some of the pictures are just of leaves on the ground, you make them look interesting. For the conception of your pictures, like I said most are about nature and most also remind me of something almost spooky. All in all you did a good job and my favorite picture is #6 because it follows the assignment well because I am not sure what it is exactly.

  2. Garrett-
I really enjoy the style and flow of your photos. Even though the first five are nature photos, you add a layer of depth that makes each one visual appealing and different. Like Holly, my favorite would have to be #6 as I have no idea what it is and would love to know. It definitely has an ora of mystery surrounding it.

  3. More nature photos! Seriously, where does everyone go for things like that? I'm too tied into the land of concrete and steel to figure these sort of things out.

So, I like this. Someone mentioned your photos having a nice flow, and I agree with that. You have some very nice contrasty images as well, like number 8. I don't know if all of the pictures really are Mystery-ish (for me, anyway... minus the fact I wish I knew where you went, hahaha), but technically speaking, I don't really know if there's a single weak image up there, which is awesome and also totally ideal for a crit. The only place I think you could work on is your self portraits. Now, the first one is totally awesome, and the second one really isn't too bad either, but they're still very obviously self portraits and not very Mystery at all. Not a criticism of your skill at all (because you very obviously know how to take/make great images), but more of a picky theme critique.

I'm gonna hop on the bandwagon and say 6 is my favorite image. It reminds me of some sort of old tool I used to use in high school when I worked on the stage in the theater, but I honestly have no idea what it is. it gives off this creepy Saw-esque feel, and I love it.

  4. I like the textures that were used in the first 8 photos. Your photos make me think vintage and something I would see in a store for purchase. My favorite photo was #7. I liked how the engravings were clear yet the tree was slightly blurry. I feel the angles you captured your photos at allowed them to become mysterious.

  5. Hi-
I think your set is my favorite. I love the mystery and high attention to architectural detail in many of your photos. You used tone and contrast brilliantly to cast the mysterious air on things. #9 is my favorite. I still have no idea what it is, but definetely see it as an energizing photo and love the use of light to communicate the subject. Number 10, though I know what it is, I think is beautiful and a piece I could see hanging in a studio somewhere. The sharp, clean lines deliver and beautiful piece.

  6. My favorite has to be your first self portrait. You would think that my eyes would focus on you, but I actually focused on the beer first. It's really cool how you became the shadow rather than the subject.
Your other pictures are really great, but I would suggest taking more pictures besides the outdoors. Don't get me wrong, outdoor pictures are really pretty and can all be different, but it would've been awesome to see a range of different subjects.

  7. #9's got to be my favorite here, but all of these work real nice together. I like the angles you chose especially for the director's slate. The textures also look great as well as the contrast of the green toned plants. Great balance and use of tonality.

  8. Awesome photos! I really enjoyed your collection and believe your theme was outside. What I liked most about it was that it wasn't typical photos your images although you could tell what they were, are mysterious. I think you really utilized the lighting and height of your photos to enhance them. My favorite is 8. The contrast of design is great and simplistic.

  9. Love photo number 4 because the B&W effect adds to the run down vide I get from the subject matter. Very nicely composed as opposed to just centering it.

  10. I'm sure I'm not the first to say #7 is my favorite. If I am, good for me. I can tell you went out and sought photos instead of just taking pics of things around you which is admirable. Everything is framed perfectly but I think you could stand to not try and frame everything in the center. Otherwise, awesome job.
