Julie - Photo number one is absolutely mesmerizing. I was fixated on it for a few moments before moving onto the rest of your photos. The red-light surrounds to photo and brings up emotions of love and lust in passion
I really like #7. The contrast of colors really work well with each other make them fight( in a good way) to be the focus of the photo. This makes the leaves stand out and really come alive. In all of your photos they give me a feeling of closeness. I feel close to all of your subjects in the photos. Great job.
#1 is my favorite. I love the sinisterness thats brought out by the red lighting and monochrome style. Also, I love the association of that with the wine glasses (red wine.) all of your photos seem nicely composed, with good overall color balance and mixtures of contrast/mono.
I'll start with the criticism first: I think you need to work a little more on capturing images in a way that isn't just a snapshot. There are a number of photos in here that don't really make me feel anything out of the ordinary. However, this is something I know you can do, because there are also a good amount of photos that make me stop and actually look at them and take them in. Like, Photo 1, which is my favorite? Wow. It gives me a sense of adventure, like a late night on the town in an unfamiliar bar, yet it fills me with this sense of dread that I can't quite put my finger on. It elicits feelings from others, and that gives it power. That is what makes a successful image.
I like #5 because of the lighting and the composition in the photo. I think overall your photos are very personal and approachable. I also like all the colors in your photos.
I like your first shot the best! It's a cool shot of the red light reflecting off the glasses and draws the viewer in. I also liked how the red light isn't visible in the entire photo and it fades- it adds a sense of mystery to the photo.
Hey Julie,
ReplyDeleteMy favorite picture is # 6. The contrast in colors really pulls the flowers shape out and makes a for a simple yet elegant photo.

ReplyDeleteGood job shooting in ambient light. My favorite is #1 because of the way the pink light hits the glass. Also nice work with the shadows here.
