  1. I like the urban feel of your photo set- you nailed it without falling victim to any stereotypes. My favorite shot is the picture of the colorful bike handles. The angle of the shot brought me back to being a kid and buying my first bike, or going down the shore and renting a bike to explore the boardwalk on. You used the colors to bring that story to life for the viewer. Good job!

  2. I enjoy the rich colors of every photo you've captured, particularly photo #9. which appears to be a mural at street corner. I honestly thought that picture was a painting or an editing. Fantastic work.

  3. Hey Joe,
This collection is one of my favorites. I love the outsides photos and how much color you were able capture. Your first photo is surreal, the way you filled the frame and how close it is to the water, shooting the viewers eyes forward really makes all the difference. The color in 8 and 9 is popping and although the art itself was created by someone else, the way you photographed both really makes them pop. My favorite photo is #1.

  4. Joe - Great working with capturing multiple colors in one shot especially in pictures 10-12. Each of these pictures is highly vibrant and fills the frame with a flush of color. I really like the way use you framed shot number two, and the different colors in all of the subjects give something ordinary like a city skyline something fresh. My favorite picture from this set is #9, I love the compression between the mural of nature and the city street.

  5. Hi Joe, I can absolutely tell your passions are art and the city! I love the pictures with the sky in them because the blue really pops and all the colors together really complement each other well. I also notice the different textures from the smooth surfaces to the wet look from the paint to the rough textured buildings. I also really like the sunlight that is displayed in some of your pictures because it makes the subjects in the pictures clear to see. My favorite pictures is #9 because it almost looks fake it is so pretty. I love the building with the painting on it and the bakery sign as well at the tree. Everything is placed perfectly and looks great!

  6. i really love number 9, at first glance i didn't understand what the context is the letters look like they are floating because the background is almost two random the be interpreted so it looks like a movie title just floating against the urban landscape, lots of great vibrant colors excellent work

  7. I really like #7 because you captured this whole assignment in one photo. The interesting composition as well as the vibrant colors in the photo. Keep it up!

  8. While I think you do border a bit on Berk's cliche line of photographing architecture/graffiti/sculpture, some of those images are made unique in your way of capturing. Your first image, my favorite, is absolutely stunning and captures a beautiful sunset, which helps paints a more interesting setting for a picture that I'm sure lots of folk have taken. That sunset is what makes it unique! Another example of this is number 3, which I originally didn't like... UNTIL I noticed the plane flying overhead! You set that up perfectly, and while I wish it was oriented differently, my inner rule of thirds lover was pretty happy to see it. Good job.

    1. This is a total postscript, but I also noticed that some of your images have a thin white line on either the side or bottom. I've noticed this in a few other people's pictures too, and I'm starting to worry it may be a Blogger thing. If it isn't, though, I'd try to figure out what's causing it and fix it. They kind of detract from the rest of the image.
