I like your 1st photo because it's a striking image. I've never seen a door float on a wall and it grabbed my attention. I like how you composed it image and how you've captured it from a low angle.
Hi Mariah, for the construction of your photos, I really like that the subject is not directly in the center of all your pictures because this makes me look at the whole picture and not just in the center. As for the communication, I sense a little bit of a dark side, but that also follows a mystery such as the first picture because you can tell its a door, but the picture makes you wonder what is behind that door? And for the conception, you definitely captured the mystery like I mentioned and also the pops of bright light make the pictures very interesting. My favorite picture is #3 because it is not fully centered which I like, and I am still guessing what exactly it is.
Mariah - I think you have a great set of photos that range in emotions from hope to dread. In photos 8,9, and your self portraits you do a good job of capturing the emotion of your subjects, especially the despair that transcends onto the viewer in 8 & 9. My favorite photo of this group is the first. The angle you shot it at alone makes it disorienting and the paint peeling and door in the middle with no steps is very haunting.
I really enjoyed how your objects really filled your photos. It took focus off one area and really made the whole photo the focus. Your photos left me feeling curious. I wanted to see more of the surroundings. I really liked photo 1 because it left me feeling the most curious as to why there is a door in the middle of a wall. I feel you did a great job with the topic for this week.
Well your pictures are absolutely gorgeous. My favorite has to be #1. I want to know where this is so i can go see it. It looks like an abandoned building where the second floor collapsed. It also reminds me of the one movie where a tornado wipes out like half of a building and the two characters open the door and its just the sky. I also like the whole vintage look. You really captured this photo well. Good job! PS your self portraits are so awesome. I love the one of your back where it shows your tat!
My favorite photo is number 1. It's a strange image and is very intriguing. For the construction of your photos, I like that the subject is not always in the center and is usually somewhat cut off. This creates a mysterious tone in most of your pictures. For the communication of your work, all of your photos can be easily read. I like how a lot of your photos have a solid white background. This makes the subject of your photos all the more prominent. For the conception of your photos, you take very beautiful and mysterious shots of your subjects. Everything is in very crisp focus with high contrast so it looks great while the subject is always placed in a way that makes it mysterious.
I like the balance in all of these. You really know what your doing composition-wise. That door looks like its into a basement which is really cool. Very interesting stuff here.
Mariah, I love the way you captured emotion in your images. I think a lot of times it can be difficult to understand a black and white photo and what is really going on. You have creatively used this element to your advantage and I think it has set your photos apart from a lot the class. Your images
Are at very different angles, making the viewer have to focus in on what is really going on. My favorite is #1, I like the element of mystery, depth and patterns.
The perceptive in the first photo is great! Probably my favorite photo out of the whole class. I just have so many questions to ask about this and that's what makes it really successful in my eyes. The perspective and composition makes this one. great job!
First of all, nice tatt. Second of all, I like your photos. I like 7 and 2 the best, but probably 7 a little more. You really seemed to get out and explore some off-the-beaten-path places.
